Alex Rhys
Alex Rhys (b.1995) is a Manchester born singer songwriter who lives in Boorloo/Perth. They have completed a Bachelor of Music (Honours) at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) and have been performing throughout WA for over ten years, ranging from Broome to Albany.
They are passionate about performing at community events and have a versatile repertoire of over 150 songs spanning from folk, to family friendly pop music. Alex works with a loop pedal to create a fuller sound required for more up tempo events, and is able to incorporate their own original songs into sets.
They pride themselves on their ability to read the room, love performing live, and wish to make every gig enjoyable for their audience. You’ll always see them performing with a smile.
Alex performs as one half of the original folk duo, The Happy Girls. They have performed at Perth Festival, Fairbridge Folk Festival, Nannup Festival, Nanga Festival and Kickstart Festival. Alex is also involved with Fairbridge Folk Festival, running youth songwriting workshops, and collaborates with numerous local and regional arts organisations.
Alex currently lives close to Hyde Park and enjoys walking along the river with their three year old Greyhound, Winnie.
