A few years ago Monty decided it was time for a sea change. Leaving a corporate accountancy job in Sydney, Monty set sail to pursue the life of a musician in Western Australia. With a singing voice uncannily like the legendary Johnny Cash, and with a love of his music, Monty created his Greatest Hits tribute to Johnny Cash called A Boy Named Cash (as seen on TV “The Voice” Australia, ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Edinburgh Fringe).
He now travels the globe performing A Boy Named Cash at arts festivals, corporate functions, rodeos, musters, weddings, cruise ships, pubs and clubs, shopping centres, breakfast radio and morning television. He has also performed on The Voice Australia.
Monty also covers a broad range of other music styles from rock and roll and country to R&B and modern pop. His audience-engaging style and musical versatility has made him one of the most sought after entertainers for corporate events, weddings, parties, pubs, clubs and more.
Whether as solo one man band with loops and stomp box, or in the “supergroup” with a variety of traditional instruments – double bass, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, stompbox, drums – Monty takes on all the popular hits in a unique post modern jukebox style. Monty will have the audience singing and dancing with both a unique bluegrass and contemporary pop/rock feel.
Monty’s combination of country music, classic and contemporary hits, bush dance instrumentals, and audience engaging style always leaves a night to remember.

WOW WOW WOW!!! Monty Cotton DUO was absolutely outstanding! Such a huge winner – the audience absolutely loved them.
Wanted to personally thankyou and the band for a great night. The feedback I have received from family and friends has been nothing short of amazing! Hope we can party again. Cheers for being so easy to deal with.
Phenomenal performance. Very fun, creative and engaging with the audience. Excellent feedback from attendees.
A massive thank you to you and the band for performing at our wedding last weekend. You guys were absolutely amazing & such great entertainment! So many people came up to me to tell me you guys were a great find! The venue also mentioned you guys were really great & set such a fun vibe for everyone.
Thank you and the boys very much for an outstanding show. Still getting comments on your contribution!
You are a bloody legend!
Anthony and I just want to say thank you so much for entertaining us on Saturday.
I hope you enjoyed the gig.
Monty and his crew played for guests invited to celebrate Wade and my 50th and our daughter’s 21st birthdays. They were outstanding and I can not speak more highly of their talent, professionalism and general awesomeness! My husband and I are now on a mission to find out where and when he is playing around the place so we can see him again!
Monty was excellent. He turned up nice and early, and was all set up when I got there at 6pm. He played really well and was interactive with the crowd. His performance – playing and singing was excellent and he made a lot of people laugh. 10/10 Think he enjoyed being out in the sticks too – remarked how quiet it was.
Thank you so much for making my Mum’s birthday such an amazing night. You were absolutely fantastic and everybody thoroughly enjoyed it, including Mum. Thanks again.
Cannot thank Monty enough for making our son and daughter in laws wedding the most amazing night. From some specifically requested, beautiful renditions during the ceremony to belting out all the party numbers after the reception, Monty was an absolute star! His ability to play on request added to the atmosphere, right down to the very last song of the night and allowing the Bride to sing (or “screech”) a duet with him. At every stage of the night, Monty had the ability to entertain and interact leaving lasting memories for all that attended. I am currently in the throws of thinking up an excuse to engage his fantastic talents again. What a talented musician! I encourage all to engage Monty and his friends for your special event, you will never be disappointed.
PS his booking agents were very easy to deal with, prompt and professional in all our interactions.
Monty made the night, he was so good! Everyone loved him and is still talking about him and how good he was. Very professional, fun and just perfect all round.
We just wanted to send you a quick email to say a massive THANK YOU for your amazing singing and entertainment on our special day.
Your voice is just amazing and the entertainment you provide while doing it is so incredible. From you singing live during our ceremony to the reception and playing all of our specially requested songs to the didgeridoo and playing the guitar behind your back and with the bottles and customising the songs to everyone, it was honestly just the best and highlight of our day, you are very talented!!
All the guests enjoyed it so much as well and it created the exact atmosphere and vibe we had dreamed of. 🙂
Thank you for learning our first dance song, you absolutely nailed it! I remember looking around at everyone during that and thinking this is just perfect and exactly how we had imagined it so yeah just thank you so so much. 🙂
We will definitely come see you play live again one day when we are up in Perth and looking forward to it.
I just wanted to say a big thank you to Monty Cotton for last Thursdays performance, the duo was absolutely incredible and we can’t wait to have them back at our next event.
A massive thanks again!
Please pass on my best for Monty as he was sensational and everyone loved him. It was a fantastic night and so so many people dancing.
Jim and I would like to thank you for the amazing music and entertainment you made at our wedding last Saturday 20th January. We have had so many good reports from our guests, we just wish we could’ve been around to listen to you more. I am looking forward to getting the video so I can listen to you! Many thanks again – We will definitely use you in the future.
I just wanted to say thanks to Monty and band for performing at our wedding in the Barossa Valley. The guys were unreal and just made our night so special for us. We couldn’t have asked for a cooler band to come and play at our wedding, and we are still talking about how great of a time we had. I am absolutely stoked to have had Monty Cotton at our wedding; young or old, everyone loved it, they were great.
The guys were so professional and sounded unreal. The band were all really nice and had everyone up and dancing for hours. We’ll be hoping to see Monty perform at events in the future!
Thanks for a great night at Club Havana. The crowd really enjoyed the show and are still raving about the band.
Thank you for entertaining the crowd on Friday evening, it was really fantastic!
It was a great success. Everything went perfectly, the delegates loved Monty and the band. He was a true professional and considering the amount of other things I had happening was good to know he was on top of his side of things. Please pass on my appreciation.
